President Obama To Address The Nation After At Least 60 Killed in Paris Attacks


Police officials in France have reported several explosions and shootouts in Paris.

The numbers to continue to grow, with Variety reporting that at least 60 people were reportedly killed and 40 are severely injured in the incidents, which appear to be a coordinated attacks.

Taking place less than a year after the Charlie Hebdo rampage, today’s attacks mark the deadliest assault on French soil ever since WWII.

Local channel France 24 reports that 100 people are currently being held hostage by gunmen at the Bataclan theater, where Eagles of Death Metal were performing a sold-out concert this evening. Athough the suspects have not yet been identified, witnesses inside the Bataclan reported that the shooters who were hiding among the concert patrons shouted “This is for Syria, this is for Syria.”

Media outlets are quickly scrambling to cover the deadly incidents. Paris is on high alert as police fears more attacks will spark throughout the city.

The incidents took place at the Bataclan in Paris as well as the Stade de France, which is located just north of Paris, where a soccer match was being held between France and Germany.

French President Francois Hollande in the stadium, located just outside the central city, at the time of the attack and has been evacuated. The stadium reportedly has been put on lockdown and is being evacuated in sections. French television showed live pictures of dazed people milling around on the soccer field.

France’s Canal Plus reported that the attack outside of the stadium was executed by two suicide bombers and that the bombs were crudely built with nails.

President Obama addressed the nation and the world moments ago.
